Description

Christmastime 1940 –Lend lease – The Battle for Britain – Bundles for Britain – war Orphans – Little Orphan Annie (A kiddie form of infomercial hawking the trinket du jour giving way to Captain Midnight)- Dish night at the movies – a new kind of telephone with the ringer built right into the base. Sodas, Matinee admissions, and comic books for a dime. Still in the Great Depression there’s a lot to be said for a dime.

Here are 62 pages of Comics for a dime and a nice picture of Donald as a fireman. What did the cover picture have to do with anything within the comic? Nothing…. Absolutely nothing - - - and never would. However, this time there is some connection between the Comic book cover and the possible advertising of a lately released Disney cartoon featuring Donald.

This comic has a surprising lead in story… several pages of prose. Then there are 5 pages of Donald and then a Longer story with Mickey Mouse.. It’s kinda obvious that the artist that drew Donald in the previous 5 pages was not the same one that drew Donald in the Mickey mouse story. Donald’s beak in the latter is narrower. Strange thing about the Mickey Mouse story line in Ghost Tracks… It seems to have not concluded well.

The previous issue’s continued story is continued and finished here.

Remembering that this is only the 3rd issue offered ever, we are seeing here what the pre-adolescent of the day were offered from the Disney camp - - - in the era just before the Greatest War.

Look for the efforts to entertain as these writer develop the most popular comic book ever in all the issues that I understand exist right here at the AI.
